What is a Martial Artist? How to Hide in Plain Sight

* What is a Martial Artist

What is a Martial Artist? How to Hide in Plain Sight. The mystery that once surrounded martial art study is gone.  So this does bring up the question What is a Martial Artist?

Now this is an opinion peace. You may or may not agree with me on this. And that is cool!

What is a Martial Artist?

First lets take a look at the term "artist." And yes the meaning of words do matter.

In today's insane world words meanings are changed to suit a narrative. That is wrong. I do not and will never accept this.

Artist Definition: A person who creates art (such as painting, sculpture, music, or writing) using conscious skill and creative imagination. And this is "expression."

What makes as an example Karate an art? The Kata! That is the art form in the martial arts. This is why I say things like MMA and sport fighting are not really martial arts, they are martial sport. Would you consider boxing to be an art form?

Today millions of people have at some point in their lives taken the martial arts and quit. Are those who have stopped still martial artists?

What is a Martial Artist - Hide in Plain Sight

Now that the world has seen the martial arts, and what it has to offer. Therefore it is time to hide in plain sight. Over the last year I have been working to train and hide my skills so that Uke does not see what is about to happen to him. Cloaking what I am doing.

This involves understanding the attacker much more, and especially understanding what his plane of vision is. When you cloak your movement, rather then show it off before hand you take the advantage back. This is much like the ways of old in the arts when no one really had a clue what you were doing. The masters of old "hid" their movements.

What is a Martial Artist?

But today through social media and especially video we show off everything we know. And this is very much like playing POKER with all the cards on the table. What is a martial artists? I am hoping it is someone who has learned the art of silence. Thereby keeping training to themselves. And cloaking their attacks and responses to attack.

And when I was training and learning with my first teacher we were told to keep silent about our training. That it was something personal and not public. We had no school jackets or T-shirts. And we would never under any circumstance walk around in public with a Gi on. Today that is commonplace.

Old Man in the Mountains

I am now almost 40 years on my own martial art path, I am an old man. I have no interest in people knowing what I do for a living unless they are looking to learn. Also I would never consider giving up my advantage on the streets. This is done by being underestimated by any would-be trouble maker.

Most of all I am too old to stand and fight. And it would be stupid to do so. I train in an "old mans art" as some people would call it. But the arts are supposed to be timeless. You get better with age and size should not matter. But when you put all the cards on the table you give you any advantage you may have had.

What is a Martial Artist in Conclusion

What is a Martial Artist in Conclusion

This article What is a Martial Artist is really only a reflection of my thoughts on the arts and training. At one time when I was younger I thought differently.

To me training is a deeply personal experience. And the only person I have to be better then is the me from the day before.

Something to consider as age comes for us all.  What is a martial artist? Are you one?

To be of Service, there is No Higher Purpose.

* To be of Service

To be of Service, there is no Higher Purpose. And yet the failed Western Culture has a totally wrong view point on this. And understanding of this is the way back for the world.

I heard someone in a video recently refer to elected politicians as "rulers." That is 100 percent WRONG. They are not rulers, they are public servants who are corrupted, pathological liars and not doing their jobs. Time to lock them up forever!

And it is this belief that has led to the failure I speak of.We need a new paradigm. And this term to be of service must be something we all think about, is this also true of the martial art teacher.

To be of Service

This video clip below explains what I am going to discuss today.

This scene is from the movie Peaceful Warrior based on the book Way of the Peaceful Warrior.  As martial arts teachers we have the privilege to be of service to many people. But, are we doing this? Or are we only focusing on making money?

Yes, money is important and required. It is the medium of trade. However it is not life itself. And the job of truly offering service to others is hard. But it has rewards beyond imagination.

To be of Service - Selfishness

The order of the day in the Western Culture is selfishness. And in truth it has become a virtue. Plus the narrative speaks of selfishness, at the same time as the narrative promotes the opposite.

I have devoted my adult life to being of service. And I have an online Kyusho Jitsu business where I promote courses and books. But student service is the most important thing. And I service my students questions and problems personally.

Most of all there is no "service" contract or extra fees for me doing what is right.  And when I ran my Dojo Art Masons' Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts I was know for the high level of student service we offered. Many times I was at parents homes by request to help them deal with an issue.

And I expected nothing in return.

To be of Service in Conclusion

To be of Service in Conclusion

In these insane times we are living in, a time where big teach believes they have authority over peoples life, when have have NOTHING.

Personally, I consume ONLY what I need. BANKRUPT these woke companies

Politicians, who are now no longer afraid to show their corruption to the public, because they believe they are above the law need to be removed.

I believe correct, complete and value based martial art study is a way to re-balance the world.  And I will continue this path as long as I am able.

Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo

* Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo

Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo: Many people in the dystopian world we live in do not believe there is any ultimate TRUTH.

When in fact they are incorrect. Why are they incorrect? Because they have allowed the world to consume them.

If you find this to be a topic that interests you then there is a step one. You MUST begin to let go of the ways of the FAILED Western Culture

And is has failed, actually a long time ago. Time to stop beating the dead horse and to bury it.

We are living in an extraordinary time, the Great Awakening. But this is not for everyone. Many people will cling to their current view of the world because they choose too. It is easier to belief comforting lies than painful truths. And as the lies we have been told all our lives are being exposed, these people will cease to thrive.  But that was once again their choice to make.

Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo

Martial Arts training is not about training to win an external event. If you think that you are missing out.  It is also not about self glory. The mind is discipled first, and then used to train the body. Most people believe it is the body they train, but the mind is everything. And without the mind properly connected and focused all training fails.

When everything falls into place clear thinking develops. This is the reason many of the masters of old were so amazing. The combination of mind - body and then spirit. But the mind, a disciplined mind is the focal point.

How does this lead to an ultimate truth? When the mind is clouded, confused, filled with ego it does not see clearly. Recently I have had a former student attack my articles posted on Facebook. He was not looking for debate, otherwise he would follow the tenets he learned as a teenager.

Rather he was disrespectful, arrogant and obnoxious.  I rarely see comments on Facebook because I am not a user for the most part, however I saw many of his comments a few days ago. I am not interested in any association with this type of person, so I deleted him completely.

Someone who wishes to discuss things is welcome, attack me, no. And I am not obligated too, nor will I justify what I am saying. Especially to a rude individual. He is looking for self glorification by attacking another. At this point in life he will see no truth. But he is sure he knows everything.

Is there Ultimate Truth?

Certain there is. Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo is the realization that the truth is found in life itself. Not in something external from us. Where there is life there is possibility. But most people chose not to see this and simply exist.

Now I just gave you an intellectual answer to the question. From here you must train the Mind /Body and Spirit to feel this deep within. Then respect for the self, love of self, and for life, begins to flower.

Why do people not see this? They suffer from the ONLY sin there is! That sin is IGNORANCE. Ignorance of the self, and when this happens wrong actions occur. Do you see wrong actions in your world?

Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo in Conclusion

Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo in Conclusion

The purpose of martial art training is to make us stronger, more focused and also be defend ourselves and families. Not about rank or competitions.

There is nothing wrong with those things when they are not the primary focus.

But what does becoming stronger, more focused, more compassionate mean?  We become better people. And should not this be the goal to become a better person.

Therefore I hope you can see that the Ultimate Truth on the Path of Budo is your life itself? Once you understand this?

Imagine a world were everyone focused on being a better person, not a rich person, or a powerful better, but a better person.

True Victory is Self Victory

* True Victory is Self Victory

True Victory is Self Victory: The martial arts is NOT about winning a competition, it is not about getting a high rank. The truth is the arts are about conquering the self, not something external. True Victory is Self Victory

In our world today, which is backwards to say the least people have lost any sense of "true north." The mainstream's narrative that victim-hood is virtuous is not only ridiculous but nauseating also.

They encourage people to be weak and pathetic, as opposed to helping them become strong and develop a meaningful life.

And people buy their crap.

True Victory is Self Victory

The martial arts, when taught correctly help a person to develop not just a strong body, but a strong and focused mind. When I ran a Dojo long ago I accepted no "excuses" for failure. You fail more often in life than you succeed. I recall once losing a fight in a tournament and giving my instructor an excuse. He looked at me and said "ever notice winners never complain?" How true that was!

I am a firm believer in equal opportunity, but not equal outcome. When you have this disease of mind seen today, the "woke virus" as it is rightfully called you will see failed lives. Everything in life is equally hard for everyone. And every person has different challenges.

You cannot speak of another when you have not walked in their shoes. True Victory is Self Victory and the martial arts, its physical training, its philosophy and concepts can help anyone conquer the greatest enemy they will ever stand up against. And that enemy is themselves, the opinions, the excuses, and the limited thinking.

True Victory is Self Victory in Conclusion

They encourage people to be weak and pathetic, as opposed to helping them become strong and develop a meaningful life. And people buy their crap, in Conclusion

Is life hard? Have the times gotten to you? Then train HARDER! True Victory is Self Victory, and that is for all people, no exceptions. Are you an excuse maker or a problem solver?

I strongly encourage you to double down on your training in these trouble dystopian times.

Everything happens in cycles and nothing is forever. Unless your focus is bad. Then you are caught in a world of your own making.
