Walking the Path of Budo a Warriors Way of Life

* Walking the Path of Budo a Warriors Way of Life

Path of Budo: What is Budo? Budo is a philosophy and a way of life that utilizes the Martial Arts as a means of self-improvement.

And in our "modern" world it is a path followed by very few.  While there are many who disagree with me, and there is none so blind as those who "will" to not see. And there are also many who agree 100 percent with me. And this is why today the World Budo Alliance is so very important.

A while back on wrote an article on my Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance Blog called New Martial Art Paradigm. The reaction to this article was interesting. And while most people who read it agreed, one former student of mine did not. And I want to add that is fine! This gentlemen has about 18 years in the arts, and was once an excellent student. But I am curious if his views will be the same in another 10 years?

Path of Budo - Fix Yourself First

Today there are so many people in the world with strong opinions on how the world should be run. An example is from when I was hosting my own YouTube like video platform, and there was a young woman there, who was posting her content on the fediverse weekly.

She talked about the challenges of her life, and in many ways she was a mess. And yet, she had very strong communist opinions on how to fix things. Most of all I have zero tolerance for communism! However I was curious to listen to her.

This lady was the consummate victim. Yet, she knew her ideology, which has always ended in genocide, would fix the world. Very intelligent lady, yet very, very foolish. Perhaps if she took charge of her life, learned to walk the path of Budo by getting involved in a real values based martial art her view would be different.

If every person were to fix the mess that is their own life, the world would be a exponentially better place.

The Path of Budo

* Path of Budo

What is the path of Budo? It is about creating and maintaining a life based on values, ethics and a moral code. And the mother of these ethic is integrity.

To always tell the truth, or at very least to STOP LYING.  Today in the failed western culture lying is considered to be virtue. Politicians, and countless others build careers on lying.

So who am I to even write this article?

I am just a simple man, living a simple life. Walking the path of Budo,  working to make myself a better man each and every day.

What is my path? Each day I have a routine I follow without exception. I am early to bed and early to rise.

Most days I am up to work within my business at 4:00. It has been this way all my life, but I refocused this in 2016 when I moved to Romania.

Path of Budo - My Personal Code
  • Learn through humility, by example
  • Only speak if I have something of value to say
  • Tell the Truth or at least never lie
  • Look inside for answers

I realize and know that my body is a gift, and I take care of it. I eat good food, and only to the point of satisfaction not being FULL. Excess is UGLY. And I do NOT ingest chemicals, ever, under any circumstances. Meditation is used daily to keep my mind calm, and focuses. Most of all I try to learn something new each and every day.

And that is easy to do, as on a grand scale I am wise enough to know I know nothing.

Plus I do life as a recluse. In my opinion, and it is only my opinion, a vast majority of society today lack morals, ethics and values. Therefore I keep to myself. Other peoples opinions of me are none of my business. Nor am I interested. I know the "bullshido" guys have attacked me many times. But reading that is like sitting in a washroom stall reading the writing on the walls. Worthless.  This type of conduct lacks all ethics and moral values. But it is their right to do so!

Path of Budo - Martial Art Training

The training found in the martial art is not about winning a competition. It is not about beating someone up who attacks you.  And it is certainly not a bragging point, showing off to people about how great you are. Actually that is pathetic.

Martial Art training is a vehicle by which the mind is used to control the body. This then makes both the body and mind stronger. Most all this leads the mind to connect deeply with spirit. The essence of who we really are. Not the lie of the culture as to whom they wish us to be.

You develop clear vision, seeing the world for what it really is.

Budo is a journey

I have been in the martial arts world going on 40 years now. And I must say I do not know where the time has gone. Hence I have learned something very important. The benefits of martial art training come with time. And the more time the greater the benefits too.

People do fall from the path. Perhaps the path is not for everyone. I really do not know. But after decades of teaching I have noticed something very interesting and important. When someone falls from the path, more times then not, their values vanish as they are wooed by a culture of zero values, where greed is a virtue.

Path of Budo

Many former students have gotten in trouble with the law, ended up with addiction issues also. Budo is a life path, not a quick fix.

Part of that journey is teaching. Most of all I believe teaching is a responsibility. I began teaching as a green belt in my instructors school. That led to me opening my own Dojo called Art Mason's Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts 15 years later. While I am no longer involved in the school I do still teach Kyusho Jitsu.

However I am planning to build a Dojo on my property. With any luck construction will begin in 2022.
