Mistakes while Training in Martial Arts

Mistakes while Training in Martial Arts. Turning Failure to Victory. People tend to avoid things they do not do well.

Perhaps, most likely it is embarrassment that causes this. What they should do is run towards the things they do not like to practice. Fail faster, that is the key to success!

Mistakes while Training in Martial Arts. Do you keep track? Or just ignore these failures?

The truth is, and this is hard for people, we will make more mistakes and do things right.

We are a culmination of all of our mistakes over our lifetime. That is the person we are. And whether this is good or bad is purely a result of whether we learn or do not learn from these mistakes.

Mistakes while Training in Martial Arts

I know, I focus on learning from my mistakes. I will take a hard look at them to see what lessons are there for me to learn from. the condition of the world today is from people refusing to learn from history. And I mean REAL history not the lies the main stream media pushing. History PROVES them to be liars. And Martial Art History is no different either.

A story of my personal training

When I first began my martial arts training so long ago I was worried about making mistakes. I joined with my first wife and she was so much better then I was. She seemed to do no wrong while I was doing everything wrong. I wished to avoid the aspects I had issue with, and focus on what I was good at.

But my teacher would have none of this. He pushed me harder on the things I sucked at. Soon they became my strong points.

When I first began my Kosho Ryu journey I was well seasoned. And I caught on quickly. I had lost that nervousness of mistakes, One day will training outside of Toronto with Shidoshi Buchan I screwed up BIG TIME after moving to avoid a FULL out punch from my Uke Oscar. I got my arm caught inside while I was outside of the punch.

I dropped my arms and chuckled. Shidoshi laughed too. Now were doing two step attacks but Oscar stopped and did not destroy me with the second hit. Oscar was a great Uke!

Shidoshi told me he was not laughing at my "mistake" but rather my reaction to it. He said any "mistake is a victory." So we assumed the position we ended in with my arm on the inside, and me on the outside. He told Oscar to attack and I moved back to where I was at first using the Octagon. My trapped arm went crashing into Oscar almost knocking him down.
